Creative Mentorships

Encouraging curiosity

Once upon a time, I promised myself that if I ever became senior, I’d help up-and-comers do the same. Well, I’ve got a few greys now, so it’s no surprise I love mentoring in different programmes or delivering training workshops

Client: Edinburgh Napier, Marketing Society

Services: Coaching, training

Contract: Voluntary

Year: Ongoing

Creative Advertising Student (Msc)

This mentorship came from a chance encounter whilst I was on a speaker panel for Napier. Over the course of several months, we went from discussing marketing theory to the minutia of CVs. Best of all? We’re still pals today.

Interactive Media Design Student (BS Hons.)

An absolute whizz when it comes to UX and human-centred design, our mentorship here primarily on reviewing work and musing about human psychology. Nowadays, he’s a very talented User Experience Consultant.

Marketing Society Member

This mentorship focused on gaining advertising agency employment. Key highlights included a ‘choose your role’ workshop and pointers on networking. They soon went on to snatch an Account Manager role at a top agency.

Why be a mentor?

Mostly, I do it to keep a promise I made to myself: to be the person I didn't have when I was younger. It's a cliché, but mentoring truly is rewarding. Good way to make pals too.

Training

Similar to coaching, I also offer training workshops for in-house teams that cannot afford an agency retainer or simply want to upskill a junior creative. Give me a shout!

The Dungeons

“Kinda goofy, kinda spooky” is literally my vibe, so you can imagine how psyched I was to write for the Edinburgh Dungeon – in a mix of social content, community management and a live Halloween event.
